FIT Retubing

FIT Retubing

If the earpiece is to be tubed through, insert the tube to the desired length and position. Once in place, bend the excess tubing at the tip of the earpiece away from the opening of the sound bore. This will create a small space between the new tube and the sound bore wall. Then, using a toothpick or similar application device, apply a small amount of Super Glue® at the gap between the tube and the sound bore. Once the glue has been applied let go of the tubing to close the gap, trim off the excess tubing so it is flush with the end of the canal and allow time for the glue to dry.

FIT Half-Tubing Instructions

In cases where canal size will not permit the tube to extend to the tip of the earpiece, a half-tube will be used. To re-tube a half-tubed earpiece, the new tube must first be cut to the proper length and inserted into the sound bore.

Once the tube is inserted, bend it away from the opening of the sound bore. This will create a small space between the new tube and the sound bore wall. Using a toothpick or similar application device, apply a small drop of Super Glue® to the gap between the new tube and the sound bore opening. Once the glue has been properly applied, let go of the tubing to close the gap and allow time for the glue to dry (Figure 2).
